Travel insurance – don’t leave it too late

Everyone should know about the importance of travel insurance, but sometimes people leave it too late to arrange. Trying to do so from airport lounges is not a good idea!

Cover needs to be in place as soon as you commit to that holiday or business trip, certainly once a deposit has been paid, as most policies provide cancellation cost recovery. After that, cover continues from the moment you step from your front door. Remember, an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) is no substitute for properly arranged travel insurance and as the name suggests it’s of no use in other parts of the world.

Rather than arrange cover for individual trips, the cost of annual policy can also be worth investigating.

Don’t be caught out and certainly don’t ignore insurance on the basis that bad things happen to other people.
