With six offices across Wales and the Border Counties, including Knighton, Builth Wells, Brecon, Welshpool, Bromyard and Dorrington, Caleb Roberts has grown substantially since it began.
For over 80 years, the name ‘Caleb Roberts’ has become synonymous with insurance in Powys and the border counties. On Caleb’s retirement in 1975, this was changed to ‘Caleb Roberts Insurance Services’ to make our offering as clear as can be.
In the early years, our founder Caleb was heavily involved in the farming community, selling for Robert Young and Co, booking on market days for McCartney’s the auctioneers – even working part time as a voluntary ambulance driver and special constable. It was because of his commitment to, and popularity within, the local community that he became so successful as an alliance insurance agent in the early years.
Whilst farming and related trades remain at our heart, we deals with all forms of commercial and personal insurance and can provide independent financial advice via our financial management service.

Caleb was so well known in the Radnorshire farming community and became an Alliance Insurance Agent in the mid 1920s.
Caleb retired and our name changed to ‘Caleb Roberts Insurance Services’ under the management of Paul Campbell and Ruth Davies.

Acquired Craven Arms and Also Brecon – Brecon became a major part of the business
Ruth and Paul retired and our business was taken over by Hugh and Charles Campbell, Ivor Williams, Clive Podd and Rob Cleaves. They quickly expanded the business and professional expertise.
Caleb Roberts Insurance Services Limited acquired Longmynd Insurance of Church Stretton with Robert Oakley joining the board of directors. This acquisition continues to enhance our offering, providing farm insurance to brokers across the UK.
Caleb Roberts expanded further to the North of the Border Counties, incorporating Tern Valley Insurance Services.
Brecon office relocated and set up a Livestock disease scheme from Dorrington.
Re-branded our Northern Ireland scheme to Agrisure.
