AGEAS – I am aware that we have an issue with Ageas EDI Motor Renewal Notices. Open GI are looking into this and have advised that this should be fixed in the next update to the EDI system, but this will not be until mid-August. However today they have confirmed that they are looking into pushing through an interim fix.
As soon as I hear anything more I will let you know.
ABI VEHICLES CODES – Please note that Insurers have requested that the ABI / Thatcham amend some of the Vehicle Codes used to identify vehicles. These are used when you are processing a quote via Open GI. When you enter the make, model and type the system provides the relevant vehicle code which is in then used by Insurers to identify the vehicle and provide the appropriate rate.
The amendments to these codes has resulted in some errors on the Open GI system which sometimes generates a refusal when attempting to amend a policy. (As the vehicle code for current vehicle has changed, the system cannot process the amendment). Open GI are regularly providing updates to ABI / Thatcham with these errors, but from my understanding there are loads.
In order to get past this, some insurers are allowing us to switch to manual policies, but you may find that they will refuse to process this on the first notification and will only back down when we confirm the above as the reason.
Please keep this in mind if you have any issues when processing mid-term adjustments on Private Car or Commercial Vehicle EDI policies.
